meet the artist

Hello and welcome! I’m Kathryn, and I create gold leaf and ink artworks from my studio in Gore, New Zealand.  My work is shaped by contrasts — delicate ink lines set against luminous gilded detail. I’m endlessly drawn to the way gold leaf catches the light, shifting and glowing as you move around it. The slow rhythm of drawing fine lines feels meditative, while the gold brings a kind of energy that seems to live within each piece.

You’ll often notice recurring motifs in my work — winding roads, churches, thistles, hillside landscapes, and architectural silhouettes. My inspiration comes from both home and afar: the New Zealand landscapes I grew up with, and the years I spent exploring "overseas".
